MARSHLAND TOUR: SIGARAIA AND SANTA MARIA ALLE QUERCE

In the heart of Tuscany, on the Nature Tour to Sigaraia and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria alla Querce, we will visit the Marshland and the hills that border it to the northeast. It is the main collection point of the various streams that originate on the hills above Collodi, Pescia and Montecatini Terme.
The marshland of Fucecchio, though vastly reduced over the centuries, stretches for 1800 hectares and is still the largest internal marshland in Italy. Given its vastness, it offers highly varied panoramas depending on the visited area.
This tour, entering the trails and oak woods, is particularly suited to lovers of nature and wild fauna.
Cycling (by Gravel or Mountain Bike) along the canal banks that lead to the heart of the marshland, we reach the rural area of Sigaraia, to the Settepassi farm. This area offers breath-taking landscapes characterised by the presence of large farmhouses.
Travelling along some of the main ditches, we climb back up the oak wood, an incredible area covered with oak and chestnut trees, characterised by a maze of trails and artificial lakes dominated by chirping birds.
Once through the wood, our guide will take you to the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Querce. A history of faith tells the story of an apparition of the Virgin Mary to block a devastating fire just next to the spring that still rises uncontaminated.
From the spring, we will descend to the natural lake, an enchanting observation point for marshland animals.
After a short break, we will reach Dogana del Capannone and head towards the end of the tour.
